Simon began his driving career in 1979 with Karting, albeit very low key – using a drum brake Barlotti to enter the 210 class, proving to be quick in the wet but not quite so when it was dry!
April 4th 1981 was the first real taste of circuit racing, participating in the HSCC championship with a Lotus Elan. From here on he built on his mechanical knowledge allowing him to understand what makes a car behave in a particular way. Learning all the key aspects of race craft Simon now has 35+ years worth of experience driving a vast array of different models and marques, such as drum brake sports cars right the way through to carbon brake Formula One.
Simon has also gained a huge amount of personal success in the Historic racing scene, with victories in the most prestigious races such as the Goodwood Revival TT and 4 time winner of the Spa 6 Hours. Along with these accomplishments he has been crowned the FIA Historic World Sportscar Champion twice and become a member of the legendary BRDC (British Racing Driver’s Club) for his services to Historic Motorsport.
Whether you would simply like to take part in a track day in your own vehicle and learn with Simon alongside you, or if you would prefer to rent one of our Formula Fords – which we think is a fantastic way to learn – and use video analysis to get to grips with the fundamentals of performance driving, both can be arranged.
